WHO’S IT FOR?
For those who enjoy the luxury spa aspects of a five-star hotel, this new wellness experience will bring a whole new meaning to cruises. The new concept has a holistic element, combining all-things luxury with natural beauty - from mineral-rich seawater to marine-based activities and treatments. The brand is expected to attract a range of audiences, from yogis to sustainable product enthusiasts.
WHY WE LOVE IT
Mareel, the name given to this innovative spa concept, provides luxurious treatments in surroundings to match. With relaxing hues of blues, pastel greens and faint corals, the decor inside the spa paints a picture of pure tranquility, providing guests with the ultimate destination to truly relax. The ingredients are delicately selected and will include the likes of Red Flower, Shankara and Environ.
The products used are organic with sustainably harvested ingredients that are toxin-free and biodynamic, highlighting another ‘travel trend’ for 2019 - sustainability.
WHAT TO DO
The launch has also introduced a range of brand new facilities on board Cunard’s fleet. The Queen Elizabeth has received a meditation room featuring loungers with acoustic resonance technology - the ultimate massage therapy. Other new additions include a multi-functional fitness centre, studio space and sound therapy facilities. A unique suite will host seaweed bathing rituals for couples.
‘Ocean Discovery’ is the signature treatment on board, a combination of either five treatments or singular 30-minute treatments. This will use marine-based products from VOYA, sustainably-harvested from Western Ireland, aiming to leave guests glowing. Other holistic treatments include an Age-Defying Restorative Facial, Organic Seaweed Leaf Wrap, Taste the Ocean Full Body Experience and much more.
Intense wellness experiences have also been conducted, offering daily activities on board. These include wellness seminars, on deck dance classes, open-air yoga, and meditation films showcased on TV every morning.
The Queen Elizabeth has not only undergone a spa-renovation, but aspects around the whole ship have been revitalised for new guests. Expect brand new soft furnishings and glamorous new carpets, as well as new furniture on the sun deck. For entertainment, The Royal Arcade will offer an exciting new shopping experience, or look no further than The Royal Court Theatre with its modern technical overhaul, providing better quality than ever.
