You’ve written many great self-help books for other women, including Beautiful Ever After, it seems to really have helped with the healing process.
Yes, most definitely. The writing process was extremely therapeutic for me. Although I did have to revisit dark times and all the previous feelings of anxiety. Writing the books always reaffirms how far I’ve come and the positive lifestyle changes I’ve made.
Your one woman tour ‘What’s in my head’ is going really well - it must have taken a lot of preparation but you seem pleased with the reaction.
The reaction has been brilliant. I’ve received so many lovely tweets from audience members which is always great to see. In the show, I speak about my own journey and recovery but the tour invites the audience to self-reflect and draw comparison to their own life which makes it more personal.
You’re mum to gorgeous Belle and Penelope now, tell us what you enjoy most about being a mum.
I love spending quality time with them and watching them grow into little ladies! Motherhood does have its challenges and it can be a juggling act at times, but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.
And you’ve made it easy to lose that post-baby weight, too!
I didn’t start training until two and a half months after giving birth to Pea. Six months post baby and I’ve lost two stone; all with the help of my personal trainer and sticking to The Healthy Happy Mum Plan and recipes and workouts. I’ve been working with brilliant diet expert Terri Ann Nunns and together we’ve recently launched our ‘mum manual’, The Healthy Happy Mum Plan, which is a guide aimed at mums to help them feel their very best, offering tips, advice and anecdotes around how to lead a healthy lifestyle. It includes recipes, easy workouts and relaxation techniques. Now with two young children, it’s important to make sure I’m fit and strong and can keep up with them!
We’re loving your dresses and jumpsuits on ‘Want That Trend’, have you always loved fashion and are there any plans for a children’s range?
I love how fashion is an extension of your identity and can boost your confidence. I was so pleased when I was asked to collaborate with the ‘Want That Trend’ site and loved working on the range with Founder Victoria Molyneux. Watch this space for a children’s range!
Jeans or dresses, what do you like to wear most and where you love to shop?
Dresses! As a mum, I spend a lot of my time in comfy clothes, so I love putting on a nice dress and have a selection to pick from with my Want That Trend collections! As much as I love designer, you can never go wrong with high street fashion! My go to shops are Zara and ASOS. I’m a big fan of Victoria Beckham too. Her style always looks so effortless and she always gets it right every time!
A balanced lifestyle
You’re a fan of early morning workouts and yoga, how important is exercise to you and what do you do to relax?
Exercise is important to me as it allows me to feel strong, active and healthy. My fitness regime helps me feel mentally balanced and the best version of myself. I make sure I have that well-needed me time where I can recharge and relax with my family. I like to go on long walks with Richie and the girls at the weekend.
As we are Exquisite Essex, we would love to know what you think about Essex and if you ever spend time in the county?
I don’t live too far from Essex - we love our days out in the countryside and going for bike rides and Essex has some lovely forests and walks! You have some amazing restaurants too, so much choice!
What would be your perfect Sunday?
My ideal Sunday would be a lie in, a breakfast with my family and an outdoor activity with the girls. The afternoon would be spent cuddled on the sofa, watching Moana for the millionth time!
