Explore Learning Young Writers Awards 2019
The competition will be open from Monday 11th March until Sunday 5th May. To inspire children to take part and support them with their entries, Explore Learning will be running free creative writing workshops at a number of schools, libraries and community groups across the UK. The tuition company will also be sharing top writing tips from their creative writing team, previous winners of the competition, judges and best-selling authors, online on their website and social media platforms. Over 38,000 children from across the nation took part in the competition last year, which was judged by comedian, TV presenter and children’s author David Walliams. Eight-year-old Mia Falatoori from London was crowned the winner with her story ‘The Mum With the Toxic Bum', which is available to read here. With previous themes for the competition including ‘The Future’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Around the World’. The theme for this year will be announced once the competition has launched.
Last year saw Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha release two children’s books; ‘Lightning Girl’ and ‘Lightning Girl 2: Superhero Squad’, to rave reviews. She will this March be releasing a third instalment to the popular series about a 11-year old superhero. Explore Learning has over 143 tutoring centres across the UK
