Bonham Grange site, which includes a range of luxury new properties.
Mick makes it quite clear how devoted he gets to projects like these, as he reveals: “I’ve been involved with it all from the start, from the positioning of the properties, to the look and the style. These properties are all piled when they didn’t need to be, they could have been a strip footing foundation, but we decided to pile them all at great expense to give them real longevity and secure no movement.” The Bonham Grange properties will boast huge kitchens with a luxury design.
These properties also boast stand-out, unusual features as Mick says: “Exceptional high ceilings which you don’t really get in new houses, really large kitchens, family rooms, twin master suites. Most of (the properties) have up to four dressing rooms each - which is pretty unusual to have en-suites and dressing rooms. We have concrete floors on the first floor, so there’s no creaky floorboards, concrete staircases – it’s all a real solid construction.”
He went on to explain: “We designed the roof to allow the potential purchasers to go up another floor up if they wish, and they wouldn’t have lots of work to have to do to go up there. These houses are a great accommodation for families.”
The elegant estate will be the first of it’s kind in the area, as well as being a local connection to Mick himself: “I’ve lived in Thurrock since I was five years of age and I’ve found that people who do well in this area tend to move out to Benfleet, Brentwood and Upminster as Thurrock isn’t offering what they are now looking for.
"I think Thurrock is a fantastic location, it’s so well placed and so I wanted to build something a bit special here and that’s what we’ve done.” The location has links to the main roads including the A13, M25 and A127, as well as rail links to London.
Mick’s other current property endeavour is that of Leigh’s iconic The Grand Hotel,
which is being transformed into an 18-unit block of luxury apartments, as Mick highlights what a journey it has been: “It is a real top to tail restoration project. It’s become a labour of love for me, all I want to do is build an amazing space there.”
Aiming to be complete and ready for purchasers to move in by next summer, guests can except a whole range of facilities, as Mick says: “It will bring a real asset back to Leigh I think, where people can go in and eat, they can drink, they can take their kids into the crèche and juice bar downstairs and they can join the membership at the gym.”
The renovation will host a large restaurant with private dining (which Mick assures will be the very best), a dining hall and brasserie alongside a large outside terrace, an elegant health club with a kids crèche, a juice bar, swimming pool and spa.
Mick also declared his love for the location of Leigh-on-Sea, which has recently been awarded as the happiest place to live:
“I can’t emphasise enough how great the location and building is. It’s a fantastic place, you can’t get a better location, I’m probably going to keep one of the apartments for myself down there I love it so much.” With the Exquisite offices based in sunny Leigh-on-Sea, we will definitely have to agree with Mick on that front!
The Grand is set to be completed and on the market by summer 2020 and Bonham Grange is already selling out fast with buyers ready to move in at around September this year.
