Exclusive: Rize Festival
Rising from the ashes of V Festival, the brand new RiZE Festival will take over Chelmsford’s glorious Hylands Park with a stunning line-up this summer!
Richard Branson left festival-goers stunned when he announced that Virgin would no longer be sponsoring V Festival; bringing one of the UK’s biggest festivals to an end. In its 22 year lifetime, V Festival welcomed some of best artists in the world to perform at Chelmsford’s Hylands Park, including; Oasis, The Killers, Calvin Harris and, more recently, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé and Justin Bieber. Last year’s edition saw P!nk and Jay-Z headline the last ever V Festival, and with it, we had to say our sad goodbyes to Essex’s landmark event.
Now, a brand new festival will be filling the shoes of V Festival. Hosted at the same Hylands Park over the usual weekend in August (17th-18th), it’s safe to say RiZE will be the replacement festival that everyone has been waiting for.
What is RiZE?
Celebrating its very first year, RiZE Festival brings together an eclectic mix of the very best music from classic indie, pop and dance across four stages over the weekend. With a history of hosting world class events at the Chelmsford country park, this new local festival promises to bring an incredible weekend of live music plus a huge hub of the finest food and drink on the festival circuit.
Who’s Playing at RiZE?
Following the triumph of his number one solo album, ‘As You Were’, Liam Gallagher will be bringing his unrivalled raw energy to Hylands Park for his headline slot on the Friday night. Gallagher is set to play a mix of his instantly popular solo material as well as the familiar Oasis tunes that everyone can let loose to. Hot off the heels of a massive UK tour and following the release of a successful tenth album, the Welsh rockers, Stereophonics will take headline duties on the Saturday night playing their well-known hits ‘Dakoka’, ‘Have a Nice Day’ and ‘Handbags & Gladrags’ for the people of Essex.
Joining them over the course of the weekend will be the platinum selling singer-songwriter James Bay, indie heroes Manic Street Preachers, Grammy nominated Bastille, and Craig David’s world famous TS5; as well as Years & Years, Plan B, Rag’N’Bone Man, Rita Ora, Example & DJ Wire and Miles Kane among others.
