Whilst conducting this project, the girls' did a lot of research into sanitary products, discovering that a single sanitary towel can sometimes contain the same amount of plastic as four plastic bags. This results in the average women using and throwing away around 10,000 sanitary products in her lifetime.
Undergoing this research, the girls found the plastic-free sanitary company Grace and Green who are keen to help support their project.
Year 8 Felsted pupils Shesh Abu-Jabir and Hamish Baumber will be joining the girls and presenting their own project at the National Big Bang fair in Birmingham.
Mrs Christina Bury, Director of Learning and Teacher of Science at Felsted Prep said: "These pupils have really challenged themselves through these thought provoking, real world STEM projects. Their passion, energy and enthusiasm to make a difference is inspiring."
