"For starters, I had to try the Old Spot Scotch Egg that I’d heard so much about. If your experience only runs to a Ginsters or the mini ones that kids love on a picnic, prepare to be blown away. Mrs Exquisite had the buffalo mozzarella served with a hearty caponata which was so warming for a cold dish.
Our waitress recommended excellent wine choices to complement the meal and her advice was spot on. I devoured the tender pork cheeks with an amazing black pudding, the crispest Savoy cabbage and some subtle celeriac. The richness of the meat was cut through with zingy apple pieces. Mrs Exquisite’s Herefordshire beef was tender and beautifully seasoned. The watercress puree and pommes dauphine added another layer of texture to this delightful dish.
Dessert? Well it would be rude not to! I opted for the sticky and oh-so-gooey honey roasted black figs, served with a smooth and creamy fig leaf ice cream and a lemon and lavender balm. As a former chocoholic, I’m now converted to the princely fig! The greengage and frangipane tart with lemon curd ripple ice cream firmly established itself as a new favourite for Mrs Exquisite."
