A tour around Italy's Prosecco region
We take a trip down Italy's Prosecco Road, taking in the sights along the way
La Strada del Prosecco, or the Prosecco road, links the Italian village of Valdobbiadene and the town of Conegliano. This fairly unknown Italian delight lies just North of Venice.
More than three dozen small family run terraced vineyards, known as Cantine, line this winding road that runs for nearly 20 miles. Offering breath-taking scenery, and surprises around every bend in the form of a new landscape, next village or winery.
Although Prosecco can be produced elsewhere in Italy as it is a Grape rather than a region-specific fruit, the Veneto version is renowned to be the best.
With most of the Catine being small and family owned, they are used to visitors turning up ad hoc and knocking on the door asking to taste their produce.
There are many towns and villages on route, Le Cartizze is known for producing Prossecco Superiore.
A great way to explore this area and learn more about Prosecco is to book a Prosecco Tour, a 3 or 4-night escape, fully escorted.
