Visit snow monkeys in the wild during an epic break to Japan!
Welcome to our 'Japan for All Seasons' series. Each day for the rest of the week we're picking a new Japanese tour and the best season to enjoy it, so read on to find out more...
AN EXQUISITE TRIP FOR WINTER 2018: TRAILS OF JAPAN Japan in winter can be harsh and temperatures are not always optimal for a break, so we recommend travelling relatively early in the season. This way, the intrepid traveller is rewarded by the best winter has to offer before the bitterly cold weather sets in... However custom departure dates are available.
Who's It For? This trip is for anyone who loves mixing luxury with the offbeat and unusual - few places match the quirky nature of Japan. Plus the colder climate at this time of year means you'll be spending extra time indoors, so why not spend it in some of the theme cafes and discover the heart of eccentric Japan? All the family will love it.
Why We Love It: Fear not if the weather is cold, as there are plenty of quirky indoor activities to enjoy. Our tour includes a visit to the Robot Restaurant in Tokyo, where you'll experience "sci-fi cabaret", plus the lively district of Harajuku where locals dress up in extravagant cosplay costumes and pose as manga comic book characters, Disney princesses, royalty and even porcelain dolls! You'll also have the opportunity to visit a surreal Maid Café, where eccentric waitresses play dress-up.
Meanwhile, the biggest highlight outdoors involves visiting Matsumoto's majestic snow monkeys! These adorable creatures live in the wild yet love to be approached while they bath in the area's natural springs! Watch them play-fight, groom each other and wrestle for food and challenge your heart not to melt.
This 13-day tour also offers the opportunity to sample traditional sake - the rice wine drink officially enjoyed by geishas - and visit one of the breweries. Besides that, tourists can explore the Japanese alps from a mountain vantage point, and see temples and pagodas galore...
Finally, looking a little further ahead, we can reveal plans for a 2020 tour to the Sapporo Snow Festival courtesy of Exquisite Concierge. Over two million visitors will marvel at perfectly formed sculptures carved out of snow and ice - and you could be one of them!
What's The Cost? For flights departing on 15th November and returning on 27th November, prices start from around £5,190 per person. Contact the concierge team to book an epic trip!
