Visiting the Lake District is one of the most popular breaks for people across the UK and now, Essex holiday-makers can say goodbye to the 5 hour car journey and get to the Lake District in under 2 hours.

From 4th June, tourists can look forward to exploring the Lake District with ease, as Southend Airport has announced they are now offering flights to an airport in the north west of the country.

As of today, passengers will be able to purchase tickets to fly to Carlisle Lake District Airport (CLDA) which has announced its new airline partner as Loganair, Scotland’s national airline.The flights will begin on 4th June when CLDA will launch commercial and business passenger flights for the first time since 1993.

The flight schedule will operate as follows:

London Southend to Carlisle Lake District –
Monday – Thursday, Departing 08:45 and Arriving 10:05.
Friday – Sunday, Departing 13:30 and Arriving 14:50.
Monday – Thursday, Departing 19:15 and Arriving 20:35.
Friday & Sunday, Departing 19:55 and Arriving 21:20.

Carlisle Lake District to London Southend – 
Monday – Thurday,  Departing 06:50 and Arriving 08:15.
Friday -Sunday,  Departing 11:35 and Arriving 13:00.
Monday – Thursday, Departing 17:20 and Arriving 18:45.
Friday & Sunday, Departing 18:00 and Arriving 19:25.

All Loganair fares include a 20kg checked baggage allowance and complimentary in-flight refreshments.

As England’s largest National Park, the Lake District is now a World Heritage Site with a wide range of  attractions for the family, as well as the natural beauty of the entire area. Southend Airport launches Air Malta flight routes

Just in time for those booking their 2018 summer holiday, London Southend Airport has launched new Air Malta flight routes that make flying to the Mediterranean even easier. From 4th May 2018, Southend Air Malta will fly to Malta, Sardinia, and Sicily. Southend Air Malta will be operating three direct flights a week to the beautiful island of Malta, of which Valletta is the 2018 European Capital of Culture. The airline will also be putting on direct flights two times a week to Catania, Sicily, and twice a week to Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. The flight schedule will operate as follows: Direct flight from London Southend (SEN) to Sicily (Catania), twice a week (Monday, Thursday). Direct flight from London Southend (SEN) to Sardinia (Cagliari) twice a week (Wednesday, Sunday). Direct flight from London Southend (SEN) to Malta three times a week (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday). Two times a week every Monday and Thursday – via Catania; and two times a week every Wednesday and Sunday via Cagliari. London Southend Airport has been ranked Best London airport 2017 by Which? for the fifth year in a row. The short-haul specialist – serving more than one million passengers a year – has three key airline partners, easyJet, Flybe and Air Malta, with 34 domestic and European routes.
