Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch Announces Essex On Stage Programme This March
With the regional premiere of David Eldridge’s In Basildon Essex on Stage is not to be missed.
The Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch will be launching its Essex on Stage programme on Saturday 23rd March with three play readings and the regional premiere of David Eldridge's, In Basildon.
The day will run from 11:30am with the last show starting at 7:30pm with Q&As after the different performances.
With play readings by three Essex playwrights Sadie Hasler, Kelly Jones and Dan Murphy the Essex on Stage programme led by the Queen's Theatre Hornchurch that celebrates theatre made by emerging artists and working class people in theatre from Essex and Outer East London.
The two year programme has been given generous support of The Clothworkers’ Foundation and includes commissioning new plays, touring drama about Essex across the county, organising local events and establishing a network of venues.
Starting with a rehearsed reading of Tammy by Kelly Jones the show centres around female sexuality, mother and daughter relationships and family secrets. Winning a Wales Drama Award in 2014 this is not to be missed.
Following at 2.45pm Legacy by Dan Murphy will follow a group of builders working on a luxury apartment block overlooking London's Olympic Stadium in Stratford. The builders reflect on growing up in the area and its changes as it becomes unrecognisable.
