"As soon as we entered The Windmill’s elegant candle-lit restaurant, the hostess was extremely considerate and thoughtful in every detail and provided a delightful welcome. To start, I devoured the English beetroot with goats cheese, a creamy dish with a crunchy texture added by the pine nuts.
Mr Exquisite couldn’t compliment the haddock omelette enough, describing it as melting in the mouth with a light and delicate texture mixed with a strong, deep cheese flavour. For main, I had the best fish and chips, boasting the lightest, crispest batter with incredible fish and signature chips. Across the table, Mr Exquisite indulged in the succulent beef sirloin with rich béarnaise sauce which was cooked perfectly. To finish the meal, we shared the gooiest of chocolate fondants – rich and dreamy!
When entering our cosy room for the night, we were completely bowled over as soon as we stepped inside – a stunning converted mill with a beautiful terrace showcasing views across the Essex countryside. Our stay ended with a show-stopping breakfast spread fit for a king, a truly perfect end to a magical getaway. In my seven years’ experience, I can honestly say this is the best kept secret in Essex!"
