Thomas the Tank Engine is coming to Essex in April for a very special train ride...
Thomas the Tank Engine is heading back to Essex this April to meet all of his favourite boys and girls. There are also a range of summer dates available for those busy this Easter.
The loveable locomotive is visiting the county, giving delighted children a chance to have a real life train ride in their favourite storybook character. Along with meeting The Fat Controller and some of his other friends, a train ride on Thomas is guaranteed to be a great day our for your little ones.
Travelling all the way from the Island of Sodor, he will be rolling into Essex county’s heritage railway in the coming months. Originally part of The Railway Series books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, Thomas soon became the star. In 1979 he became the title character of the television series, when British writer/producer Britt Allcroft came across the books and brought the stories to life. They started as Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends and was later simplified to Thomas & Friends. The programme became an award-winning hit around the world, with a vast range of spin-off commercial products.
