We take a look at the best comedy events in Southend and which venues the acts will be appearing at throughout the summer….

Check out these great comedy events in Southend...

Who's It For? Great for families with older children.

Why We Love It: Who doesn't remember the lovably inept Frank Spencer of the super-popular sitcom Some Mothers Do ‘Ave 'Em? Whether or not you've seen the original TV series by Raymond Allen, you'll love the stand-up tour of the same name, which will be appearing at Southend's Palace Theatre for five days consecutively later this month - from 24th-28th July.

Joe Pasquale (formerly of New Faces, Spamalot, The Producers and I'm A Celebrity) is a local personality that we love, and he has been chosen to pose as the infamous Frank. Meanwhile Suzie Blake will be remembered by those of you who watched the box in the early 2000s as Rovers barmaid Ben Unwin in Coronation Street. She is playing Frank's disapproving mother-in-law as he embarks on a new career as a magician. The July dates are the only ones on offer in Essex for the foreseeable future, so book now to pay tribute to a classic!

What's The Cost? £25 upwards per ticket.

Who Is It For? Adults - couples or friends.

Why We Love It: Joe Pasquale will return to the stage in a very different guise later in the summer, for his stand-up tour 'A Few of His Favourite Things'. It will be the Essex-based comedian's 30th anniversary and could include some very special celebrations! He promises that a comedy gig with him will be "like riding a rollercoaster" for his audience! Joe was educated in Grays, so is one of our own, and despite living and travelling in an impressive selection of places, he has always regarded Essex as his home. He'll be at the Palace Theatre in Southend on 23rd September.

What's The Cost? £24 per ticket.

Who Is It For? Adults only - certificate 18+. This could best suit a group of guys looking for a fun night out together.

Why We Love It: If specific celebrity names are not important to you, and you're simply looking for a night filled with the hottest up and coming talent, then you couldn't do better than the Cliffs Pavilion. You'll be able to feast on a selection of mouth-watering curries while being entertained by no fewer than three acts a night. The next two eagerly awaited dates are 26th July and 23rd August. Of all the comedy events in Southend, this is a renowned firm favourite with the locals, and well worth the visit.

What's The Cost? £14.95 per ticket

Top trends in kitchen design

Struggling todecide how to transform your kitchen into a future-proofed room for all the family to enjoy? Barry Everett of Bloomsbury Court Interiors outlines his top tips for renovating your kitchen to be your dream space, whether it’s a family room, an entertainment area or just a functional kitchen for cooking your meals. Space-saver Maximise the space but do not over clutter the room with units; less is more. Storage solutions with new ideas are a must for 2017, such as pantry systems, complete with black internals and mood lighting. Add on hidden extras to make your kitchen super sleek, such as glass drawer boxes and internal drawers that will all aide usability without the clutter. Internal lighting in drawers adds an extra special touch and will actually help you see what you’re doing if the main light is just too much. Mix materials Mix materials such as glass, veneers, woods and laminates as well as old with new and handless with traditional styles. Textured work surfaces and excellent lighting create beautiful shimmering and light movement effects. You don’t need to have a uniform kitchen to create a stunning space. In fact, mixing colours and textures is one of the biggest trends we’ve seen this year, offering more impact than matching cabinets and styles throughout. Tech is the future We will see a move towards induction and touch screen appliances, the exciting technology is also now in place for voice activated appliances. There is also a new craze in Wi-Fi enabled appliances which are controlled through an app, enabling you to control energy consumption, switch on/off an appliance remotely and receive message alerts for any problems. Up And Coming Trends Kitchen design will include more islands, floating units and tall units and will incorporate the open plan living area into the kitchen. This will all make your room feel much more light and airy, even if it isn’t the biggest room in the house.
