"We began our delightful lunch at Galvin Green Man
surrounded by the chic decor and welcoming staff. The book club event had a hugely successful turn out - the bar was rammed with customers excited to delve into the vegetarian dishes that awaited us. The event began with Chris and Sabrina taking to the front of the audience to discuss her new book - read the full Q&A here.
Our two-course lunch began with the spiced bean scotch egg on a bed of salad. The coating on the scotch egg had a flaky texture with a spicy aromatic twist. The dish was accompanied with a Zabzi yoghurt, balancing the dish perfectly. The hint of spice woke the palette whilst the pomegranate seeds added a burst of sweetness to add to the flavour. Once we cut into the scotch egg, we were delighted with the oozing bright yolk which topped off the dish beautifully.
The main course was a zesty chickpea, paneer, spinach and preserved lemon stew which boasted subtle hints of Middle Eastern flavours that blended together seamlessly - it was quite unlike anything we had ever tried before. The flavourful stew was mopped up with Za'atar-rubbed pittas, a crispy flatbread drenched in olive oil and an extravagant mix of herbs.
As usual meat-eaters, Mr Exquisite and I were both apprehensive about the vegetarian options, but were definitely pleasantly surprised. We already can't wait to return to Galvin Green Man! Their next book club event is with Ping Coombes
on 19th June and with limited spaces available I suggest booking ASAP."
