"As soon as we entered Wivenhoe House, we were delightfully welcomed by the attentive staff and we soaked in the warm and friendly atmosphere and the grand interior. To start the evening, I opted for the cocktail of the day - gin with lemon liquor, and Mr Exquisite chose the Glenfiddich Scotch. We were both very impressed with the array of choices available.
For starters, the beetroot and goats cheese truffle caught my eye straight away. The goats cheese was perfectly creamy and the candied pecans added a crunchy texture to the dish. Mr Exquisite adored the tender confit chicken and black pudding terrine and noted the aesthetically- pleasing presentation of the dish. For main course, I chose the buttermilk pork fillet - a dish I wouldn’t normally order but was so glad I did! The pork melted in the mouth and was accompanied by a moreish potato terrine and smooth cauliflower puree. Mr Exquisite was over the moon with the quality of his rib eye steak and said it was cooked to perfection.
To finish off a wonderful meal, we shared the vanilla cheesecake with salted caramel ice cream. The cheesecake was light and airy, and despite not being a fan of salted caramel, the ice cream was the perfect addition. We can’t wait to return to Wivenhoe House!"
