History of the Brand

Exquisite founder and publisher Natasha Sundharawipata has no shortage of experience in the luxury publishing industry, working for some of the world's finest brands, including Homes and Garden, Living etc. and Marie Claire. Her first launch, Coastal Living magazine has become one of most successful lifestyle launches.

After moving from Essex to Kent with her family, Natasha became frustrated with the lack of information and inspiration on what to do and where to go in her new local area, so Exquisite was born, becoming the ultimate regional lifestyle brand.

The original plan was for Exquisite to launch as a twice-yearly title, but following the success of the first issue, she decided to ramp up production and so it became a quarterly publication. The reputation and responses gained by the magazine presented new opportunities for the holding company Refined Media to take on contract publishing, and all while Natasha was bringing up her six month old daughter.

The next stage in her plan was to launch an accompanying site, which would help local people find the best venues, explore events, book restaurants and keep their busy lives organised.

Taking inspiration from the magazine, Natasha wanted to offer the local knowledge in one place, but give users the opportunity to take advantage of exclusive offers, add events to their diary, buy products and event tickets online and for Exquisite to become the go-to resource for everything in their life.

Personalisation was a key part in the site's strategy, including the ability for users to get tailored privileges sent straight to their inbox, so along came memberships, with three tiers to suit every type of person - silver for those who just want to hear about what's hot in Essex, gold for those who want to experience the best things to do in Essex and black, for those who like that extra personalised touch with access to a lifestyle concierge manager.

When it was time for Natasha's daughter Sahara to start school, she came across another challenge: although it was easy enough to search online for all the information about independent schools in the area, the information was often out of date and didn't provide the insight into a school that's so important to help parents make a decision about their child's future.

And so Exquisite Education was born, both as a standalone guide and as an extension to Exquisite Concierge. It's now become the go-to guide for every independent school in the Essex area, offering detailed information about the school to help parents make a more informed choice.
