The School’s motto 'Aut viam inveniam aut faciam' (find a way or make a way) is as fundamental today as it was at the time of our foundation in 1629. We want Chigwell students to develop a determined, independent spirit, taking responsibility for themselves, their relationships with others, and the world around us.
Chigwell School is an independent sixth form in Chigwell offering a full and rich education for boys and girls between the ages of four and 18. Despite sitting within 100 acres of beautiful land, Chigwell School is a medium-sized school in terms of overall pupil numbers.
Working closely with parents, Chigwell School aims to ensure when pupils leave at the age of 18, they are ready to enter the world outside and to play their part in it. Chigwell fosters an environment where children can discover and nurture spiritual values. While the inspiration and ideals of the school’s foundation are Anglican, with all the principal world faiths represented on the school roll, that dimension to live is valued and respected. Everyone at the school attends services in the chapel or church. The school operates four bus routes, coming from Epping, South Woodford, Loughton and Ilford directions, with more due to be added in the future.
