The Pig puts the emphasis on simple seasonal British garden food. Virtually all the food comes from within 25 miles of the restaurant, which means that it’s influenced by what’s available in the forest or on the coast. The Pig has its own kitchen garden, green house, and smoke house, as well as chickens and pigs.
The menu changes daily, depending on what’s ripe in the kitchen garden, or what the forager can find. He goes out each morning in search of berries, nuts, salads and shellfish (depending on the season), and can also take guests on foraging expeditions.
The Pig in Brockenhurst is a rustic country house in the New Forest. The cosy bedrooms are comfortably furnished in shabby chic style, and each has its own well-stocked larder.
The popular restaurant serves meals in the conservatory. For those in need of a little pampering, the former potting shed has been converted into a spa treatment room.
The relaxed atmosphere means you can head here for a romantic weekend, or a family holiday. The Pig makes an ideal base for exploring the New Forest. There are plenty of activities available nearby – horse riding, cycling, fishing, sailing – or you can visit one of the stately homes in the area, such as Beaulieu, with the National Motor Museum.
